Three cases. Three families left with questions that the system has so far refused to fully answer. Your messages about the D4VD filing, the Kohberger book, and the Delphi appeal arrived in waves — and they all push toward the same fracture: alleged failures by the people and institutions that were supposed to protect, investigate, and deliver justice.
In the D4VD case, the People’s Brief alleges David Anthony Burke met Celeste Rivas Hernandez online when she was eleven, began sexually abusing her when she was thirteen, and killed her when she allegedly threatened to expose the relationship. Prosecutors say he attended a radio interview and album release party the morning after. They say he allegedly ordered chainsaws and a body bag under a fake name while her body sat in his Tesla for months. Burke has pleaded not guilty. His attorneys maintain he is innocent.
In Idaho, Bryan Kohberger admitted to killing four university students but gave no motive. A new book by a retired FBI agent reveals alleged chain of custody problems with the knife sheath that carried Kohberger’s DNA. An unidentified hair found near one of the victims reportedly does not belong to him and has allegedly never been fully tested. The victims’ families have filed a lawsuit against Washington State University.
In Delphi, Richard Allen’s defense team filed a reply brief and requested oral arguments, calling the prosecution’s case “a paper tiger.” They argue the jury heard half the story. Allen confessed to shooting girls who were never shot. His attorneys say the trial court blocked alternative suspects, muted critical audio, and admitted coerced confessions.
Robin Dreeke and I take the hardest questions from all three cases.
